Before sending a notice
Confirm that you own the work or are allowed to act for the owner. Consider whether the use is licensed, public domain or permitted by an exception such as fair use. A notice should identify specific material rather than an entire website when only one item is disputed.
What to include
Send a written notice containing all of the following information:
- Your full name and a physical or electronic signature.
- A clear description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed.
- The exact Black Screen page address and enough detail to locate the disputed material.
- Your postal address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
Where to send it
Email the notice to contact@black-screen.dev with the subject “Copyright notice”. Attachments should be limited to material needed to understand the claim.
Review and response
Black Screen may ask for missing information, remove or restrict access to material, contact the person who supplied it, or decline a notice that does not identify a valid copyright concern. Knowingly sending a false claim can create legal liability.
If material you supplied is removed because of a mistake, email the same address with the page details, your explanation and the information required for a valid counter notice under the law that applies to you.
