Set up a Green Screen for the right task
Even color and separation from the subject matter more than maximum brightness.
Choose a green
Try the brighter keying preset first. Use a custom value only when editing software or a brand specifies one.
Open fullscreen
Remove browser controls and fill the panel. Use the display only for a subject small enough to fit inside its clean area.
Control spill
Move the subject away from the screen and reduce brightness if green light reflects onto skin, hair or glossy edges.
Key the sample
Record a short clip and test the key before filming the full scene. Adjust exposure and threshold in the editing application.
What a monitor green screen can and cannot do
A display gives a flat, convenient green area for close shots, stop motion, small products or quick call effects. It does not provide the size, viewing angle or nonreflective surface of physical chroma cloth.
Brightness can create green spill and visible reflections. A lower output with better subject separation often produces a cleaner edge than placing the display very close at full brightness.
Use green for a display check
A solid green field can reveal points that stay dark or show an unexpected color. It is one part of a pixel check, not a complete diagnosis.

Green Screen questions
Which green is best for chroma key?
There is no single value for every setup. #00B140 is a useful bright preset, but even exposure and low spill matter more.
Why is the default not #00FF00?
Full RGB green is extremely bright. #008000 and #00B140 provide more practical starting points for many displays.
Can this replace green fabric?
It can cover a small area, but fabric or a painted surface is better for people, wide shots and flexible camera angles.
