Live falling character animation
Matrix Screensaver
Fill the screen with columns of glowing green characters that redraw continuously on a canvas. Change the character size and fall speed to create a dense code rain or a slower, more readable effect.

Adjust the Matrix Screensaver
Character size controls density, while the timing slider controls how often the canvas advances.
Set character size
Choose smaller symbols for more columns or larger symbols for stronger visibility.
Adjust the fall speed
Lower timing values update more often and appear faster. Higher values slow the motion.
Open fullscreen
Expand the canvas after selecting the look. It resizes to the available display area.
Pause or reset
Freeze the current frame with Pause. Reset restores the default density and speed.
A generated animation rather than a movie
Each column receives its own falling position. The canvas leaves fading traces behind new characters, which creates depth without loading a prerecorded video.
Resizing the window changes the number of columns. The current device and browser determine the maximum smooth frame rate, especially at very small character sizes.
Use the effect as visual atmosphere
The screensaver works as a background for streaming, parties, themed rooms and fictional computer scenes. The characters are decorative and do not represent a real program, terminal session or data feed.
Open Hacker Typer when you want keyboard interaction. Use the Black Screen tool when a still dark display is more suitable.
Matrix animation settings
The page exposes the two variables that most clearly change the effect.
Character size
Controls symbol scale and indirectly changes how many columns fit across the canvas.
Frame delay
Sets the interval between animation steps from fast 10ms updates to a slower 200ms pace.
Pause
Stops new frames and preserves the current code rain image until resumed.
Keep awake
Requests an active display during fullscreen where browser and power settings allow it.
Important: This is a decorative code animation. It does not run commands, access files or show real network activity.
Matrix Screensaver questions
Are the falling characters real code?
No. They are decorative Kana, letters and numbers selected for the visual effect.
Why does a lower speed value look faster?
The number is the delay between updates. A shorter delay redraws the animation more often.
Can I pause on one frame?
Yes. Pause freezes the current canvas until you resume or reset it.
