Use the Stuck Pixel Fixer on a suspect screen
Confirm the point on several solid colors before running a rapid sequence over it.
Locate the pixel
Use Screen Test to find the exact point and note which colors make it visible.
Position the patch
Click or drag inside the dark stage to center the patch over the suspected pixel.
Choose size and speed
Begin with a small patch and Slow. Increase only if the area remains comfortable to view.
Run briefly and recheck
Pause the cycle, return to solid test fields and compare the pixel again.
Stuck and dead pixels are not the same
A stuck subpixel may remain on one color, while a dead pixel may remain dark. Color cycling is sometimes used as an exercise for a stuck state, but it cannot restore a physically failed component.
If the point is visible only on one field, test the same location on red, green, blue, white and black. A surface speck can also look like a pixel from normal distance.
Why the patch is movable
A full screen rapid flash is unnecessary when the concern is one small location. The patch limits the changing area and leaves the rest of the display dark.
The Size slider ranges from 24 to 180 pixels, which helps cover one point or a small cluster without filling the whole display.
Pixel fixer settings
Start conservatively and stop as soon as you have completed the planned check.
Start or pause
Begins the eight color loop or freezes the patch at its current color.
Patch size
Changes the square from 24 to 180 CSS pixels.
Cycle speed
Uses 450ms, 180ms or 80ms intervals for Slow, Normal and Fast.
Placement
Click inside the stage to move the patch center to that point.
Important: Rapid color changes can be uncomfortable and may be unsuitable for people sensitive to flashing. Stop immediately if you feel unwell. No result is guaranteed.
Stuck Pixel Fixer questions
Can this fix a dead pixel?
A dead hardware pixel is not expected to recover from a browser color cycle. The tool cannot guarantee any repair.
How long should I run it?
There is no proven browser based duration. Use brief sessions, stop if uncomfortable and recheck between sessions.
Why use a patch instead of fullscreen flashing?
The patch targets the suspected area and avoids changing the entire display.
