Set up the Night Sky Screen
Use the controls to keep the image visible without making a dark room unnecessarily bright.
Play the loop
Resume the scene if browser settings or a previous action left it paused.
Choose the pace
Use 1x for normal motion, 0.75x for slower movement or 1.25x for a quicker loop.
Dim the picture
Reduce brightness and increase vignette until the edges sit comfortably in the room.
Enter fullscreen
Expand the scene across the current display and press Escape to return.
A video background without added sound
This page intentionally has no sound control. It suits rooms where a moving night scene is useful but rain, waves or music would be distracting.
The footage loops continuously and may be cropped at the sides or top to fill screens with different aspect ratios. It is an ambient visual, not a live sky view or astronomical map.
Choose motion or complete darkness
Lowering the speed changes the feeling of the loop but does not create new frames or a live time lapse. Brightness is a visual filter inside the page and does not change the monitor's hardware setting.
When even a dim night scene produces too much light, use the static Black Screen. For motion with optional sound, try the Rain Screen.
Night Sky controls
The controls affect the video image only, so the page stays silent.
Play or pause
Freezes the scene on its current frame or resumes the loop.
Playback speed
Selects 0.75x, 1x or 1.25x video speed.
Brightness
Darkens or lightens the video from 45 to 120 percent.
Vignette
Adds adjustable edge shading from none to a strong 70 percent effect.
Important: This video is decorative and should not be treated as a real time weather, sky or astronomy feed.
Night Sky Screen questions
Why is there no sound button?
The Night Sky Screen is deliberately silent. The other video scenes provide optional generated ambience.
Does brightness control my monitor?
No. It applies a filter to the video. Use device controls for hardware brightness.
Is the sky shown live?
No. It is a looping ambient video rather than a live camera or sky map.
